January 26, 1948 – July 11, 2021 (73)
Mr. Korab was born on January 26, 1948, in Detroit, MI to Chester and Elizabeth Korab. He grew up in Meriden and worked for Ryder Truck Rental of Hartford before going on to become the owner of Korab Truck & Autobody of Plainville. After living for many years in New Britain, Tom and Ann recently moved to Middletown. This past June 30 they celebrated 35 years of marriage and were in love for 44 years. Together they spent many years traveling and camping, making new friends along the way. In 2003 they purchased a summer cottage in Dud’s Village in Madison. They settled into this wonderful community and loved every minute. Tommy could be seen almost every day driving his red scooter – Ann on the back – through the village, the beaches, and nearby towns. He was a member of Elks Lodge 35 in Meriden and the Polish Falcons Nest 519 in Middletown. Tom adored children and was “Uncle Tom” not only to his nieces and nephews but to friends’ children who loved him. He enjoyed dancing (crazy legs Korab!), rock and roll, loved to cook, Crown Royal cocktails, and looked forward to Sunday poker games at the Village. Tom was also a big and loyal fan of the New York Yankees and New York Jets. The holidays with family and friends brought him joy. We are heartbroken to lose him. He was loved. We miss him. He is healed. His spirit will be in our hearts always. Mr. Korab is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Salmonson Korab of Middletown; brother, Jamieson Korab of Madison; sister, Valarie Korab Whitehead and partner Ronald of Branford; sister, Laura and her husband Dennis LaPiene of South Carolina; nephew, Jarred Korab of Wallingford as well as several much-loved nieces and nephews in SC, NY, and PA.
